Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure -

About us

Our Philosophy
The inspiration for Zencabins came from a desire to create a product that enhanced people’s lives and contributed to the health of our environment. Working from home, reducing our energy needs, and by using alternative sources are some of the ways that we can make a real difference.

A Zencabin creates the environment that is both calming and yet energising, with its unique curved roof, full length windows and natural fibre insulation. The curved roof is of particular importance. The shape can be sensed in many ways, subtle, nurturing and natural among many others. These qualities are the points of reference for our designs and indeed every aspect of our business.

Our cabins seek to provide their owners with an inspirational and supportive environment and the beautiful roof with its internal pattern of exposed ribs is one of the main features. The designs incorporate both a traditional and modern feel. We think they have the ability to fit in with many diverse environments, old or new and especially the domestic garden for which they were principally designed.

They provide a unique office or studio space, warm and snug, designed fully in accord with ecological, health and sustainable principles while incorporating the best of current technology. The are solid, durable and will literally last a life time

We specialise in powerful ideas and have incorporated features and qualities into these buildings not to be found elsewhere. Our mission is to infuse every aspect of our company's operation with sensitivity and respect. We take pride in what we do and love to be able to bring a little bit of magic into peoples lives.

Mick started life as a production engineer with Rolls Royce before retraining as a teacher in outdoor education. A gap year spent cycling to India and climbing in the Himalayas was a great experience and from there he went on to work for Outward Bound. Since then his work and pleasure have been closely aligned with his passion for remote places, adventures and meeting people. More recently much of his leisure time has been spent canoeing or sailing round the Scottish islands with friends or family, Mingulay in the Outer Hebrides being his all time favourite.
